A Bit About Me

Kendell Jones is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, where she studied Criminal Justice in both her undergraduate and graduate programs.  A dynamic leader and driving force behind our commitment to excellence in grant writing, Kendell brings a wealth of experience and passion for catalyzing positive change through impactful grant proposals.

 

With a distinguished background in grant management across multiple sectors, Kendell has honed her expertise for over 20 years, emerging as a recognized authority in the intricacies of grant acquisition and strategic proposal development. 

 

Under Kendell’s leadership, HSW has not only flourished but has also become synonymous with success in securing grants across diverse sectors. She is known for her hands-on approach, working closely with clients to understand their unique needs and aspirations, and translating those into compelling narratives that resonate with grantors and funding entities.

 

Kendell has successfully managed programmatic and fiscal operations in excess of $20M of federal, state, and private grant funded programs through for-profit businesses, non-profit organizations, law enforcement agencies, and higher education.  She has written and managed awards through the Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Bureau of Justice Statistics, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, PA Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts, Health Resources and Services Administration, and several others.  Throughout these initiatives, Kendell has successfully managed budgeting/budget amendments and no-cost extensions, program implementation, staff hiring and training, fiscal/program reports, data collection and analysis, timekeeping/payroll, invoicing, sub awardee contracts and processing of invoices, and a continual coordination of services and communication with funder liaisons and community partners. 

 

Kendell has also coordinated community stakeholder consortiums and sat on the advisory board for several multi-jurisdictional committees, including NYS Project Exile, Project Safe Neighborhoods, Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiatives Employment Working Group and Data Working Group, and Rochester Safe and Sound. 

 

Ms. Jones previously served as the Chief Operating Officer for a NY-based staffing agency, where she managed their grant funded programs, and implemented company-wide policy, procedure, and key performance indicators (KPI) to achieve more than 1200% growth in revenue during tenure, being named to the Forbes Inc 5000 list, the 50 Fastest Women-Owned/Led Businesses, and several years on the Rochester Top 100 list.
